Fire Resilient Deep Energy Retrofit
This exterior retrofit project transforms a non-insulated solid wood Panabode structure into a high-performance, fire-resistant building envelope designed for long-term resilience, comfort, and energy efficiency.
The retrofit strategy focuses on creating a healthier, all-electric home with significantly improved thermal performance and airtightness while maintaining durability in a demanding mountain environment. Continuous exterior Rockwool insulation enhances energy efficiency and fire resistance, while metal and stone cladding provide a durable, low-maintenance exterior built for the future.
Key upgrades include an all-electric mechanical system featuring an air-to-air heat pump, heat recovery ventilation (HRV), and comprehensive air sealing improvements to support year-round comfort, indoor air quality, and reduced operational energy demand.
